Truffles are underground mushrooms, related to the family of tuber. They grow spontaneously in  southern european countries, especially in italy where a few regions are producing the highest quality on the market.

Umbria, Tuscany and Marche are known to have multiple varieties of Truffles during the high seasons, like  Melanosporum (Black winter),

Uncinatum (Black Autumn), Aestivum (Black Summer) and MAgnatum Pico (White Truffle).

Piedmont is considered to be the most well-known region for the "white truffle" (Magnatum Pico) - specifically from the area of Alba.

Due to a high market request, availability is less and less every year.
